Africa News Tonight: Workneh Gebeyehu, the Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), is urging Sudan’s warring factions to cease hostilities and resolve the situation through dialogue. The UN refugee agency reports the number of people who have been forcibly displaced by war, persecution, human rights abuses and climate change reached an all-time high of 108.4 million last year. And, others have tried and failed, and now six African leaders are heading to Moscow and Kyiv in the coming days to try to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Africa News Tonight: The international medical aid group Doctors Without Borders (MSF) says thousands of people fleeing conflict in Sudan and seeking safety in Chad’s eastern border provinces may lose access to vital humanitarian and medical aid when the impending rainy season begins. The Greek Shipping Ministry says at least 78 people drowned today in the Aegean Sea after a large fishing vessel carrying migrants sank off the southern coast of Greece. And, it’s been a year since armed men in Nigeria’s southwest Ondo state rushed into St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church during a Mass and attacked worshippers, killing 41 people and injuring scores of others.
