Africa News Tonight - South Africa Ramaphosa Yet to Step Down; W.H.O Reports Challenges Sending Aid to Tigray Region
Africa News Tonight: Allies to South African President Cyril Ramaphosa say it is “premature” for the Southern African leader to step down from his post, a development which was followed by the presidential spokesman telling reporters that Ramaphosa’s decision is imminent. World Health Organization authorities report that the global aid group does not have unfettered access to transport aid into Ethiopia’s northern Tigray region, despite a cease-fire deal that was signed in early November, between federal authorities and the Tigray People’s Liberation Front.

Africa News Tonight – South Africa ANC Meets to Talk Ramaphosa Impeachment; Kenya Ruto Suspends Election Commissioners
On Africa News Tonight: South Africa’s ruling African National Congress Friday held an emergency meeting focused on determining the future of President Cyril Ramaphosa, soon after an independent panel reported that the ANC’s leader broke the law and suggested an impeachment inquiry. Kenyan President William Ruto has suspended four election commissioners who refused to endorse the August presidential race that declared him victor over opposition veteran Raila Odinga.

In honor of World AIDS Day, host Carol Castiel reprises a conversation with AIDS activist, journalist, and historian, Emily Bass about her book, To End a Plague: America’s Fight to Defeat AIDS in Africa.
