Coming up on Africa News Tonight: Zimbabwe’s local currency continues devaluing, pushing the market to demand the U.S. dollar for trade, a move that President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government deems illegal, and experts say is difficult because most consumers are paid in the local currency; The United Nations Refugee Agency says a repatriation program for Congolese refugees wishing to return home from Angola has resumed following a two-year break triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic, adding, the first convoy of 88 refugees left northern Angola and is expected in DRC Tuesday.

Kenya's Faith Kipyegon stormed to victory late on Monday, winning 1,500m gold. Kipyegon, winner of the last two Olympic 1,500m titles, finished with a remarkable time of three minutes, 52.96 seconds. Ethiopia's Gudaf Tsegay took silver while British runner Laura Muir won bronze. Kipyegon, who took gold in 2017 and silver in 2019, said regaining her crown "means a lot".
