Analysis: Sudanese Refugees Face Shortages of Basic Necessities
Abdullahi Halakhe, Refugees International senior advocate for East and southern Africa took a recent visit to the border towns of Renk on the Sudan-South Sudan border and Wadi Halfa on the Egypt-Sudan border, amid conflict in Sudan. Thousands of displaced Sudanese are fleeing to these areas and arriving without basic food items such as water, food, and shelter. For more insight, Abdullahi Halakhe gave an eyewitness account to VOA’s Esther Githui-Ewart of the journey the refugees are making to Egypt and South Sudan.
