Yellen Visits South Africa Game Reserve, Commits to Combat Illicit Wildlife Trade
United States Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen continued her 10-day tour of Africa Wednesday in South Africa, where she committed her department to forming a joint task force with South Africa’s National Treasury to combat illicit finance linked to the illegal wildlife trade. Speaking at the Dinokeng Game Reserve outside Pretoria, prior to meeting with President Cyril Ramaphosa, Yellen told South African officials that the new task force will boost information sharing between the two country's financial intelligence units and strengthen controls to combat money laundering and terrorist financing. Thuso Khumalo shares the highlights of that visit.
