WFP: Over 45,000 without access to basic necessities in DRC
The World Food Program (WFP) says more than 45,000 people have no food, water, or shelter in the Democratic Republic of Congo, after continued attacks from M23 rebels in the country’s North Kivu province. Widespread looting is also now being reported, as humanitarian assistance to civilians by aid organizations in the country is being significantly impacted due to the conflict. VOA’s Esther Githui-Ewart spoke to Shelly Thakral, the spokesperson for the World Food Program in Kinshasa, for the latest humanitarian projections in the DRC.
