US prioritizes Gaza cease-fire between Israel and Hamas
U.S. authorities say a cease-fire agreement between Israel and Hamas in Gaza remains a top priority, a day after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected proposals facilitated by Egypt and Qatar. He later ordered his forces to carry out “targeted strikes” in eastern Rafah, an area housing millions of Palestinians who fled the ongoing conflict.
