US Analyst Says Israel's Attack on Gaza Distracts from Ukraine-Russia Conflict
An analyst with the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, a D.C.-based think tank, says although Israel's attack on Gaza is being followed closely by Washington, it distracts from the larger conflict in Europe — the Russia/Ukraine conflict. David Shenker's comment follows the ouster of Speaker, Kevin McCarthy -- whose opponents ousted him from his job last week in part over continuous support by the U.S. for Ukraine. President Joe Biden says Washington will stand behind the Jewish state even as some members of Congress seem to be doubling down on U.S.' support for Kyiv. VOA's Ignatius Annor spoke to Shenker on Monday who, however, said there's 'iron-clad' support for Israel on Capitol Hill.
