UN warns of greater risk to Sudanese civilians caught in conflict
Volker Turk, the United Nations Human Rights Chief, warned Thursday of the risk of a further escalation of the war in Sudan. He said that there was a growing risk of wide scale deaths from starvation. This comes as U.N. World Food Program temporarily halted distribution of food aid in the famine-hit camp for displaced people in Sudan's North Darfur region. VOA’s Esther Githui-Ewart spoke to Khalid Mishain, the spokesperson for the Youth Citizen Observatory Network, for more on how the cessation of aid is impacting the already afflicted region.
