Tech Report: Bringing African Languages to Wikipedia
Despite being a widely accessed and essential source of knowledge, the popular online information lexicon Wikipedia lacks many native African languages. To address the lack of language diversity in Wikipedia’s accessible information, a movement led by young Wiki’s, or techies, in Ghana aims to empower individuals to contribute to Wikipedia in their native languages, allowing volunteers to create and edit numerous Wikipedia articles in African languages.
