United Nations agencies say more than twelve hundred children have died of suspected measles and malnutrition in Sudanese refugee camps, while thousands more, including newborns, are at risk of death before year-end. The World Health Organization says there have been 56 verified attacks on health care facilities in Sudan since the conflict began and about 70 to 80 percent of hospitals in conflict states are now out of service. VOA’s Esther Githui-Ewart spoke to Dr. Abdullah Adam, the director of strategic planning at the Sudanese American Physicians’ Association, about the challenges facing Sudan’s health care system.
