Managing a 5-Star Hotel in Eastern DRC
Despite the challenges that come with operating in a conflict-prone region, "Serena Goma," a hotel in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo has managed to maintain its five-star rating since opening its doors 2020. Owned by a Congolese national and managed by Serena Hotels, it overlooks Lake Kivu, and its management says it is committed to creating job opportunities for the local community. VOA's Paul Ndiho sat down with Huguette Bishweka, whose family owns the property and works at Serena Goma as sales and marketing manager.
