The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank are holding annual meetings in Marrakech, Morocco, Africa, for the first time in 50 years as they face a growing chorus of criticism that poorer nations are underrepresented at the two institutions. Both institutions have recently said they plan to give Africa additional seats on their executive boards. These annual meetings bring together policymakers, academics, civil society, and economic experts to tackle world economic and development issues. For an analysis of the ongoing meeting in Marrakech, VOA’s Paul Ndiho spoke to Ghazi Ben Ahmed, the founder of the Mediterranean Development Initiative.
