Health Report: WHO approves new cholera vaccine
The World Health Organization has approved a new, simpler version of an existing oral cholera vaccine. The Euvichol-S vaccine is a simplified formulation of Euvichol-Plus and has a similar efficacy to existing vaccines. Experts hope the simplified formula will enable a rapid increase in production and supply. The drug is produced by the South Korean firm EuBiologics. VOA’s Linord Midou spoke with Ambassador Daniel Speckhard, the President and CEO of Corus International, for reaction on the approval.
