Health Report: Conflict in DRC worsens humanitarian crisis
The World Health Organization warns that escalating violence in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo has led to loss of life, widespread trauma, mass displacement, and the destruction of critical health infrastructure. With tensions remaining high, the United Nations and humanitarian organizations have expressed concern about the worsening health and safety conditions for civilians. VOA’s Linord Moudou spoke with Natalia Torrent, chief of the program for Doctors Without Borders, which also goes by its French acronym MSF, in North Kivu, DRC, for an on-the-ground assessment of the humanitarian toll in the region.
