Gabon Opposition Candidate: It’s Not Coup, It’s ‘Palace Revolution’
Gabon’s opposition candidate Albert Ondo Ossa, who was the main challenger of deposed President Ali Gombo during the Aug. 26 election, alleged that Gombo's family was behind a plot to keep them in power after more than five decades of rule over the oil-rich central African nation. “It's a palace revolution, so there's no military coup. The proof is that it was the praetorian guard who carried out the palace revolution. The other soldiers were not involved. So, it's a palace revolution,” said Ondo Ossa late Thursday in an interview with French media outlet TV5 Monde.
