More than 700,000 of Lesotho’s 2, 3 million people are facing extreme hunger due to the severe El Nino drought. According to the World Vision, a global organization aiming to end poverty, 80% of Lesotho’s poor live in rural areas and are heavily dependent on crop and animal farming. Those populations have been especially hard hit by the El Nino drought, leaving nearly one third of the population in dire need of humanitarian assistance. Thuso Khumalo reports from Mokema village, Lesotho.
