Coup Supporters Gather Near French Base in Niger
A mass of supporters of Niger's coup gathered near a French military base on the outskirts of the capital, Niamey, Friday. Shouting “down with France, down with ECOWAS,” the protestors held signs signifying opposition to military intervention in their country. This comes as the West African regional bloc ECOWAS on Thursday approved the deployment of its "standby force to restore constitutional order" in the West African nation.
