Conflict in Sudan Reaches 100 Days Mark
July 24 marks 100 days of conflict in Sudan between warring factions. The conflict has uprooted over 3 million people, including more than 700,000 who have fled to neighboring countries like Egypt, Chad, and South Sudan. Thus far mediation attempts have failed to find a political solution to end the conflict, but a number of humanitarian organizations are still stepping in to alleviate the hardships of Sudanese refugees. This includes calls to the African Union and the U.N. to do more to help refugees and civilians remaining in Sudan. For more, Esther Githui-Ewart spoke to Abdullahi Halakhe, senior advocate of East, Horn and Southern Africa at Refugees International.
