British Government’s Upper House Votes on Rwanda Migration Plan
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak won the first vote in the upper house of Parliament on his legislation to revive a plan to send asylum seekers to Rwanda. Under the “Rwanda Plan”, which has yet to be carried out, asylum seekers who arrive on Britain’s coast in small, inflatable boats would be sent to Rwanda to while their asylum claims are assessed. For an analysis into the politics surrounding the controversial bill, VOA’s Vincent Makori spoke to reporter Michela Wrong in London.
