Analysis: US President Biden pledges infrastructure investments in final day of Angola visit
United States President Joe Biden arrived in Angolan port city of Lobito Wednesday in his final day of his first visit to the African continent. Pledging an additional $550 million in loans to fund the Lobito corridor, Biden sought to reassure the nation’s critical ally in the region that there was still support from Washington — even as his presidency concludes. VOA’s Esther Githui-Ewart spoke to Florindo Chivucute, an Angolan political analyst and executive director of Friends of Angola, for a look into how the deal will strengthen economic growth in the region.
