Analysis: Israel strikes at Syrian rebels following deposition of President Bashar al-Assad
Israel on Tuesday carried out a wave of heavy airstrikes in Syria, as troops advanced deeper into the country following the overthrow of President Bashar Assad, according to a Syrian opposition war monitor. Associated Press reporters in the capital, Damascus, say there were heavy airstrikes overnight Tuesday and in surrounding suburbs. VOA’s Esther Githui-Ewarts spoke to Khalil Jahshan, the Executive Director of the Arab Center in Washington, D.C. about the latest round of airstrikes and who is expected to fill leadership roles in Syria following the ousting of President Bashar al-Assad.
