Former President Jimmy Carter entered his presidency in the late 1970s, a time when there was much instability among many nations on the continent of Africa as they sought to distance themselves from former colonial rulers. VOA’s Philip Alexiou talks with Moses Tesi, a professor of political science and international relations at Middle Tennessee State University, who says Carter’s humanitarian work both as president and private citizen led to increased prosperity for the continent.
