West Africa Faces Acute Hunger Amid Regional Instability

Acute hunger in West Africa is at a 10-year high, according to the World Food Program. The region is also reeling from the effects of political instability with coups in Mali, Burkina Faso and Guinea as well as Islamic jihadists in the Sahel. Ollo Sib, senior WFP regional advisor, spoke to Africa 54 host Esther Githui-Ewart about food supply disruptions caused by the Russia-Ukraine war.
