Analyst discusses African countries' initiative on reducing aid reliance
Following US President Donald Trump’s directives to end funding for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), African leaders are considering how to fulfill their funding and aid needs. As a result, African leaders are now spearheading an initiative focused on reducing reliance on external support from countries like the United States. VOA’s Esther Githui-Ewart spoke to Ronald Osumba, a senior political advisor for Africa at the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, for a look into how Africa’s leaders are looking to divest from western countries.
