US Congress meets to certify 2024 election results
A joint session of the United States Congress is set to convene to officially certify the 2024 election, which officially names Donald Trump as the next President of the United States. Previously an unknown procedure, the meeting gained international attention in 2020 when supporters of then President Trump tried to stop Congress from certifying the election results. VOA’s Vincent Makori spoke to VOA’s Anthony LaBruto live at the U.S. Capitol with a look into the procedure.
