Health Report: Sudan faces catastrophic hunger crisis
The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification says Sudan is facing the worst levels of hunger ever recorded in the country, as well as the world’s largest internally displaced crisis. Observers say the displacement in Sennar is happening as the rainy season begins, and poor sanitation conditions at IDP camps could lead to disease outbreaks. For a look into the continued causes of Sudan’s hunger crisis, VOA’s Linord Moudou spoke to Sibongani Kayola, the Sudan country director for Mercy Corps.
