Equatorial Guinea to receive additional US military funding
The United States plans to provide $500,000 in International Military Education & Training (IMET) to the Government of Equatorial Guinea this fiscal year, marking a $102,000 increase over the previous fiscal year. This comes as unconfirmed reports suggest that the U.S. is in talks with Equatorial Guinea to build a military base after troops were ordered to leave Niger by the country's junta. For more on the increase of military funding, VOA's Paul Ndiho spoke to Michael Walsh, a senior fellow in the Center for African Studies at Howard University.
