Rwandans Commemorate 1994 Genocide
Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame this week paid tribute to victims of the East African nation’s 1994 genocide. Speaking during a ceremony in Kigali, the East African leader said the international community “failed” Rwanda during the nation’s dark period where mostly Tutsis and moderate Hutus were slaughtered in mass killings. For more on how Rwanda is commemorating the thirtieth anniversary of the genocide, VOA’s Esther Githui-Ewart spoke to reporter Senanu Tord.
