South Africa Recalls Diplomats from Israel
South Africa is recalling diplomats from Israel, a move Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor said this week is to assess its relationship with the Middle Eastern nation amid a rise in civilian casualties from its war with Hamas. Pandor said Monday recalling diplomats is a "normal practice,” adding, the recall was to determine "whether there is any potential for you to be of assistance and whether the continued relationship is actually able to be sustained in all terms." For insight, VOA’s Esther Githui-Ewart spoke with Michael Walsh, a senior fellow in the Africa Program at the Foreign Policy Institute.
