UN Envoy to Libya Visits Flood-Ravaged Derna
The United Nations Libya envoy, Abdoulaye Bathily, visited the flood-stricken coastal city of Derna on Saturday, where he checked up on field operations and met leader of the eastern-based administration. Speaking to the press, Bathily said his visit aimed to examine the situation and support aid workers on the ground. At least 11,300 people have died and another 10,100 are missing from Derna, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. It is estimated that 170 people have been killed elsewhere in the country.
