Zambia’s National Women’s Football Team to Make World Cup Debut
Zambia’s national women’s football team, known as the Copper Queens, will make its World Cup debut on Saturday July 22. They are set to play against Japan at the games co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand. The success of The Copper Queens has encouraged many young women to take up the sport, as last week they surprised Germany when they beat them 3- 2 in an international friendly. Additionally, three other African teams are participating in the competition: Morocco, Nigeria, and South Africa. For more, VOA’s Esther Githui-Ewart spoke to senior sports reporter of Diamond TV Zambia, Nchimunya Bobby Ng'andu.
