Africa’s LGBTQ+ Community on the Edge
Human Rights activists are concerned that Uganda’s "Anti-Homosexuality Act" assented by President Yoweri Museveni last Friday could have a domino effect across Africa as Ghana’s legislature deliberates a similar bill. Although the bill in Ghana, known formally as the "Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill," is yet to pass, news that the East African nation has enacted the legislation has sent shivers down the spines of LGBTQ+ persons and allies in the West African nation. VOA’s Ignatius Annor seeks to find out what’s next as LGBTQ+ persons living on the continent remain on edge about their very existence. Annor reports from Washington.
