US Celebrates Juneteenth Federal Holiday
On Sunday, June 19, Americans will celebrate Juneteenth, the newest federal holiday, commemorating the emancipation of enslaved people in Texas. Africa 54 host Esther Githui-Ewart spoke to Melvin Foote, CEO and president of Constituency for Africa, about the significance of Juneteenth.
