Malawi Food Shortage Forces Many to Flee
50,000 refugees in Malawi are facing acute food shortages after the World Food Program cut in half monthly food assistance to refugees last year. In the only refugee camp in Dzaleka, over 600 felt pressured to return home. Many Burundians voluntarily repatriated since July even though some refugees figured out ways to sustain themselves and feed others. Lameck Masina visited Dzaleka refugee camp in Dowa district in central Malawi and has this report.
