Banking sector looks to reimagine relationship with the African diaspora
The African diaspora played a pivotal role in strengthening economies of their native countries. In 2017, Nigeria officially recognized the role played by the Nigerian Diaspora by signing a Diaspora Bill into law. The Central African country of Rwanda has made significant developments from diaspora remittances. Many other countries are following suit, and tapping diaspora skills to improve their economies. For a look into how the African banking sector is changing, VOA’s Esther Githui-Ewart spoke to Tirus Mwithiga, Group Retail Director, NCBA Bank in Kenya.
