Eskom: 'Brace for More Power Cuts, Difficult Winter’
The executives of South African state-owned power firm Eskom warned of increasing power cuts to an unprecedented level, as the country grapples with its worst power crisis on record. "This is gonna be a very difficult winter,” Eskom Group Executive For Transmission Segomoco Scheppers said, during a press conference in Pretoria Thursday. The load-shedding rolling blackouts had a severe impact on many households and businesses in Africa's most industrialized economy, reducing GDP by about 5% in 2022, according to the state-run company.
