Eswatini’s MR3 Highway sees record number of accidents
Eswatini recorded 7294 road traffic accidents, 229 fatalities and 705 serious injuries over the course of a year, according to a World Health Organization 2021 report. Due to gaps in data collection, the exact number of accidents on the MR3 highway remains unknown but estimates suggest it could be as high as 2,000 in the past few years alone, highlighting the critical need for improved data gathering. The accidents leave scars that last long after the wreckage has been cleared. Nokukhanya Musi files from Manzini, Eswatini.
