African sports pundits and fans continue to applaud South Sudan’s “Bright Star,” the East African nation’s men’s basketball team, and Nigeria’s “D’Tigress,” the West African nation’s women’s basketball team, for their historic campaigns at the recently concluded Paris Olympics. In an interview with VOA’s Muqbil Yabarow and Mike Hove, Cheick Theiro a sports reporter and former professional basketball player said the two teams are proof that Africa has a lot of talent and called on Nigerian and South Sudanese authorities to invest in sports to ensure better representation at future international tournaments.
