Health Report: The Africa Mental Health Data Prize
The African Population and Health Research Center, in partnership with Wellcome, has unveiled a new initiative, The Africa Mental Health Data Prize. The prize aims to address existing gaps in the understanding of mental health in Africa and how it is addressed on the continent. The Wellcome-funded prize is open to innovators, researchers, and startups. According to the World Health Organization, more than 116 million people were already estimated to be living with mental health conditions before the COVID 19 pandemic. And few people in Africa have access to quality mental health care. For more insight, VOA’s Linord Moudou spoke with Catherine Kyobutungi, PhD., the Executive Director at the African Population and Health Research Center.
