Nigerian President Bola Tinubu Sunday announced an interim wage rise for low-income workers while implementing reforms to ease the impact of his petrol subsidy removal — developments that happened two days before labor unions embarked on an indefinite strike. Despite unions calling on Tinubu to reinstate the fuel subsidy and a minimum wage of 200,000 naira ($260), the West African leader said talks with several stakeholders led to the government workers receiving a minimum of 55,000 naira ($71) from 30,000 ($40) naira.
