Benin and Mali Eliminate Trachoma as a Public Health Concern
In May, the World Health Organization certified that the countries of Benin and Mali had eliminated trachoma, a bacterial infection that affects the eyes, marking the two nations as fifth and sixth African countries to do so. VOA’s Kane Farabaugh reports, while organizations such as the Carter Center are celebrating the milestones in Mali, its work in eliminating and eradicating neglected tropical diseases continues.
