US Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield Discusses UN Role in Sudan Conflict
U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield said that the U.S. and the global organization continue to put pressure towards a cease-fire that will allow for a civilian-led government in Sudan. Hayde Adams, host of VOA’s Straight Talk Africa, spoke to Thomas-Greenfield about the role of the U.N. after Sudan’s military ruler Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan called for the U.N. special envoy Volker Perthes to be replaced.
