Daughter of Former Angolan President Faces Loss of Assets
Angola's Supreme Court ordered a "preventive seizure of assets" totaling around $1 billion from Isabel dos Santos, the daughter of Angola's former President Jose Eduardo dos Santos. Isabel dos Santos, who has repeatedly denied wrongdoing, has faced corruption accusations for years, including allegations that she and her husband steered state funds to companies they held stakes in during her father's presidency. For more perspective, Africa 54 host Esther Githui-Ewart spoke with Florindo Chivucute, executive director of NGO Friends of Angola.
