Zimbabwe’s Supreme Court is expected to take up the appeal of 12 would-be members of parliament from the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change. They had been denied participation in the August 23 presidential and parliamentary elections because they allegedly filed their nomination papers late. Meanwhile, independent candidate Saviour Kasukuwere has taken his case to the Constitutional Court after the Supreme Court upheld his disqualification on grounds that he had been out of the country for over 18 months. Kasukuwere tells VOA’s James Butty, the Supreme Court infringed on his basic right to vote as a citizen.
