Whistleblowers face challenges in South Africa
Martha Ngoye was the legal executive at South Africa’s state-owned Passenger Rail Agency. When she blew the whistle on unlawful government contracts worth millions instead of being honored as a corruption buster, she was fired and faced a lengthy and costly legal battle to get her job back. Ngoye’s experience shows the challenges faced by whistleblowers in South Africa. VOA’s Ihsaan Haffejee reports.
