US Saudi Arabia Negotiators ‘Optimistic’ About Sudan Cease-Fire
U.S. diplomats Wednesday told Washington’s lawmakers that they are “cautiously optimistic” about negotiations in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, that are focused on establishing a temporary humanitarian cease-fire in Sudan, where conflict between warring generals has resulted in the death of over 750 people and the displacement of hundreds of thousands.
