US Government Days Away From Shutdown
The U.S. federal government was two days from a partial shutdown on Friday, as a handful of hardline Republicans in the House of Representatives refused to support a bipartisan stopgap spending bill meant to give lawmakers more time to negotiate a full-year deal. VOA’s Congressional Correspondent Katherine Gypson spoke to Africa 54 live in Washington about the possible shutdown and about the death of trailblazing US Senator Dianne Feinstein, the longest serving female senator in U.S. history.
