US Charity Calls For Africa Investment Priority at Climate Summit
update
The US-based Mercy Corps has called on world leaders meeting at the Africa Climate Summit to prioritize investment in long-term solutions, rethink Africa’s food systems, and invest in renewable energy. The organization says failing to invest in Africa’s potential would have far-reaching consequences for the world. Timothy Rann, Managing Partner at Mercy Corps Venture, tells VOA’s James Butty, he thinks there is a moral obligation on the part of the global north and historical lenders to drive financing towards African countries to help them adapt to climate change.
