United Nations officials Tuesday applauded attempts by South Sudan to close its conflict chapter by unifying forces loyal to President Salva Kiir and rival Vice President Riek Machar, a key condition of the 2018 peace deal which ended the five-year conflict where almost 40,000 lives were taken.
